The Seasons on Earth, Male and Female Roles open

This is my roleplay Seasons on Earth. It revolves around the four beings who can control the season they are related to with ease. These four are all brothers who were born of the sun and the moon and have lived with them since a few days ago. The four have gone to Earth secretly and are thought to be captured.

The boys have landed in a small town and it is causing the town to separate into four different quadrants which each have a different season caused by the boys. The four are also starting to fall for four of the girls in the town causing some complications for the stars searching for them.

There are currently the seasons of Spring and Summer Open and as for the girls The relations for Summer and Winter are Open as well as both stars. The link is above and I really hope you join.

Kochi, Kerala, India ? The First Annual Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Through March 13th, 2013

12/12/12 at 12:00 opened the first-ever Indian Biennial, held in the South Indian city of Kochi, Kerala, 30 kilometers from the historic Muziris islands. Twenty-three of the eighty-two showcased artists in the Biennale are native to the state, with more than forty from India. The remaining artists come from all over the world, including Ai Weiwei (China), Ernesto Neto (Brazil), Cyprien Gaillard (France), and Wangechi Mutu (Kenya) among others. Musician M.I.A., whose family is originally Sri Lankan, inaugurated the showcase with her own Indian performing debut, additionally contributing her own hologram-based artworks to be viewed throughout the exhibitions. Modeled after the Venice Biennale, Kochi-Muziris runs for three months, through March 13th, 2013.

Kerala-based publication Madhyamam reported that M.I.A. drew from her childhood experiences in Sri Lanka to address the issues of militarism, otherness and repression as juxtaposed with the ever-growing technological advancements of modern South Asia. The saturated colors of the work seek to augment the theme of digitization.

Despite the support of international artists, the focus of the Biennale is Kerala and its history. Both coordinators, Bose Krishnamachari and Riyas Komu, are Mumbai-based but Kerala born. Mumbai is largely accepted as the art market center of India, but the founders strongly feel that Kochi-Muziris? historical context is more conducive to an art critical showcase. As Krishanmachari told the Times of India, ?Biennales are not art fairs, and since they are not market-driven but art-driven, the swings and sways of the art market do not have an impact on them. This is a chance for the public to experience conceptual contemporary art first-hand.?

As the first Indian Biennale, Kochi-Muziris has also been compared to India Art Fair (formerly India Art Summit), which has been held in New Delhi since 2008.? New Delhi is the federal capital of India, thus hosting international embassies and a consequentially sizable expatriate community. While Kochi is also a bustling city, its many vacant and historic buildings were deemed particularly conducive to a large-scale creative experiment.?

As well as developing contemporary urbanity, Muziris has a rich legacy of art and internationalism. The city?s reputation as an international trading port during the Greco-Roman Empire, dating back to the 1st century B.C.E. In its heyday, Muziris? position as a cultural hub of multi-ethnic and religious diversity provided India?s first mosque, church, and Portuguese fort all built in the area. Much of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale draws from this and from Kochi?s more recent evolution both ideologically and physically. Exhibition spaces include the 17th century Dutch Bungalow David Hall, named after Jewish businessman David Koder, the house of British trader John Aspinwall, and Moidu Heritage Plaza, formerly the coconut fiber company Allepey.

Since 2006, the Government of Kerala, the Indian Central Government, the Kerala Council for Historical Research, and the Muziris Heritage Project have been gradually joining forces to excavate and restore the ancient monuments. The governing forces hope to attract tourists to the archaeological developments as much as the beach and climate, ultimately supporting the Kochi-Muziris Biennale as furthering that mission of education and exchange.

The Growth Of Online Shopping by Graham Baylis

?

Computers have evolved from the early days of just being simple devices to what they have become today. They are now capable of so much more and we use them not only as implements of work but also for entertainment, communications portals and for shopping. As such, computer technology has allowed us to search for products, services or businesses that can offer us what we want or what we need. These businesses can be half way around the world and the services or products are still available to us. Ecommerce websites have given us the ability to access what we want whenever we want it.

From the comfort of our own homes, we can now order a takeaway, book tickets for the theatre or cinema, plan a holiday, pay our bills, buy birthday presents for our loved ones or even hire the professional services of a solicitor all using the power of ecommerce. These days, you do not even need to access a computer to use ecommerce, there are many modern devices such as smart phones, tablets and PDAs that can be used to make a purchase or hire services. Such devices have allowed consumers to instantly find what they want whenever they want it. As a result, people now want everything faster, better and cheaper than ever before. This has led to a very competitive marketplace and has given consumers and other businesses a great deal of choice. This is why it is vital for businesses and organisations to have a prominent online presence so that they can be found and be able to trade. They not only need to have a top notch ecommerce site but one that is accessible via all the popular mobile devices. The availability of high speed internet as well as the advancement in digital technology has led to a rapid increase in ecommerce trade.

With our superfast lifestyles, which are replicated around the globe, when the consumer wants or needs something at short notice, whether it is a manufacturer, a retailer, a shipping agent, logistics or other services, ecommerce provides what you want. By using the internet, customers can go looking for what they want, compare and then purchase the goods of their choice. Ecommerce saves time, money and effort for the customer as they no longer need to physically go looking for what they want. They can get the best deal and therefore the best value for money. With the rise in ecommerce business, the traditional methods of advertising is changing and the way in which new products and services are promoted has changed. Online marketing has changed the way businesses promote their goods and services. Another change is the rise in social media, manufacturers are now able to showcase their goods so that consumers can find out about them before they become available. Ecommerce has progressed rapidly with the help of social media in such a way that it has expanded exponentially.

With the advent of smart technology, ecommerce is set to expand even further. The newest smart TVs are being developed with the ability to allow online shopping so online shopping?is still evolving. It will be fascinating to see where it goes next.

Budget struggle raising anxiety for health care

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Confused about the federal budget struggle? So are doctors, hospital administrators and other medical professionals who serve the 100 million Americans covered by Medicare and Medicaid.

Rarely has the government sent so many conflicting signals in so short a time about the bottom line for the health care industry.

Cuts are coming, says Washington, and some could be really big. Yet more government spending is also being promised as President Barack Obama's health care overhaul advances and millions of uninsured people move closer to getting government-subsidized coverage.

"Imagine a person being told they are going to get a raise, but their taxes are also going to go up and they are going to be paying more for gas," said Thornton Kirby, president of the South Carolina Hospital Association. "They don't know if they are going to be taking home more or less. That's the uncertainty when there are so many variables in play."

Real money is at stake for big hospitals and small medical practices alike. Government at all levels pays nearly half the nation's health care tab, with federal funds accounting for most of that.

It's widely assumed that a budget deal will mean cuts for Medicare service providers. But which ones? How much? And will Medicaid and subsidies to help people get coverage under the health care law also be cut?

As House Speaker John Boehner famously said: "God only knows." The Ohio Republican was referring to the overall chances of getting a budget deal, but the same can be said of how health care ? one-sixth of the economy ? will fare.

"There is no political consensus to do anything significant," said Dan Mendelson, president of Avalere Health, a market analysis firm. "There is a collective walking away from things that matter. All the stuff on the lists of options becomes impossible, because there is no give-and-take."

As if things weren't complicated enough, doctors keep facing their own recurring fiscal cliff, separate from the bigger budget battle but embroiled in it nonetheless.

Come Jan. 1, doctors and certain other medical professionals face a 26.5 percent cut in their Medicare payments, the consequence of a 1990s deficit-reduction law gone awry. Lawmakers failed to repeal or replace that law even after it became obvious that it wasn't working. Instead, Congress usually passes a "doc fix" each year to waive the cuts.

This year, the fix got hung up in larger budget politics. Although a reprieve is expected sooner or later, doctors don't like being told to sit in the congressional waiting room.

"It seems like there is a presumption that physicians and patients can basically tolerate this kind of uncertainty while the Congress goes through whatever political machinations they are going through," said Dr. Jeremy Lazarus, president of the American Medical Association. "Our concern is that physician uncertainty and anxiety about being able to pay the bills will have an impact on taking care of patients."

A recent government survey indicates that Medicare beneficiaries are having more problems when trying to find a new primary care doctor, and Lazarus said that will only get worse.

Adding to their unease, doctors also face an additional reduction if automatic spending cuts go through. Those would be triggered if Obama and congressional leaders are unable to bridge partisan differences and strike a deal. They are part of the combination of tax increases and spending cuts dubbed the "fiscal cliff."

Medicare service providers would get hit with a 2 percent across-the-board cut, but Medicaid and subsidies for the uninsured under Obama's health care overhaul would be spared. The Medicare cut adds up to about $120 billion over ten years, with 40 percent falling on hospitals, according to Avalare's analysis. Nursing homes, Medicare Advantage plans and home health agencies also get hit.

The American Hospital Association says that would lead to the loss of hundreds of thousands of hospital jobs in a labor intensive industry that also generates employment for other businesses in local communities.

"It's very difficult to believe hospitals can absorb the kinds of numbers they are talking about without reducing service or workforce," said Kirby, the hospital association head. "You may decide that a service a hospital provides is not affordable ? for example, obstetrics in a rural community ? if you're making a little bit of money or losing a little bit of money by continuing to deliver babies in a rural community."

Independent analysts like Mendelson doubt that a 2 percent Medicare cut to hospitals would be catastrophic, but say it will cost jobs somewhere.

Even if there is a budget deal, the squeeze will be on.

The administration has proposed $400 billion in health care cuts so far in the budget talks, coming mainly from Medicare spending. That's only a starting point as far as Republicans are concerned. They also want to pare back Medicaid and Obama's health care law, and have also sought an increase in the eligibility age for Medicare.

Strike likely averted at East Coast ports

(AP) ? The union for longshoremen along the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico has agreed to extend its contract for 30 days, averting a possible strike that could have crippled operations at ports that handle about 40 percent of all U.S. container cargo, a federal mediator announced Friday.

The extension came after the union and an alliance of port operators and shipping lines resolved one of the stickier points in their months-long contract negotiations, involving royalty payments to the longshoremen for each container they unload.

Negotiations will continue until at least midnight Jan. 28. Some important contract issues remain to be resolved, but the head of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, George Cohen, said the agreement on royalties was "a major positive step forward."

"While some significant issues remain in contention, I am cautiously optimistic that they can be resolved in the upcoming 30-day extension period," he said.

The terms of the royalty agreement were not announced.

The master contract between the International Longshoremen's Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance originally expired in September. The two sides agreed to extend it once before, for 90 days, but it had been set to expire again at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

As recently as Dec. 19, the president of the longshoremen, Harold Daggett, had said a strike was expected.

A work stoppage would have idled shipments of a vast number of consumer products, from electronics to clothing, and kept U.S. manufacturers from getting parts and raw materials delivered easily.

Business groups expressed relief that the two sides had agreed to keep the ports open.

"A coast-wide port shutdown is not an option. It would have severe economic ramifications for the local, national and even global economies and wreak havoc on the supply chain," said National Retail Federation President Matthew Shay.

Major ports that would have been frozen included the massive terminals serving New York City overseen by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and critical seaports in Savannah, Ga., Houston, and Hampton Roads, Va.

New York Shipping Association President Joseph Curto said avoiding a strike is critical "to thousands of workers who depend on port activities for their livelihood."

Other ports that would have been affected by a strike are in Boston; the Philadelphia area; Baltimore; Wilmington, N.C.; Charleston, S.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Port Everglades, Fla.; Miami; Tampa, Fla.; Mobile, Ala.; and New Orleans.

Longshoremen on the West Coast have a separate collective bargaining agreement.

Winter storm whips across Northeast

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) ? A powerful winter storm brought snow to inland parts of the Northeast and driving rain and wind to areas along the coast Thursday, a day after it swept through the nation's middle, dumping a record snowfall in Arkansas and wrecking post-holiday plans for thousands of travelers.

The storm, which was blamed for 15 deaths, pushed through the Upper Ohio Valley and made its way into the Northeast Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, there was anywhere from a few inches of snow to a foot in some locations.

National Weather Service spokesman David Roth said the Northeast's heaviest snowfall would be in northern Pennsylvania, upstate New York and inland sections of several New England states before the storm ended Friday morning and headed to Canada.

Dale Lamprey, who was clearing off the sidewalk outside the legislative office building in Concord, N.H., already had several hours of shoveling under his belt by 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

"I got here at quarter of five and it's been windy, it's been snowing and I think it changed over to sleet and freezing rain at one point," he said. "It's pretty bad."

He didn't expect it to get much better.

"I'm going to be shoveling all day, just trying to keep up with the snow," he said. "Which is impossible."

The East Coast's largest cities ? New York, Philadelphia and Boston ? were seeing mostly high winds and rain Thursday morning. Other areas were getting a messy mix of rain and snow or just rain ? enough to slow down commuters and those still heading home from visits with family.

Thousands of travelers were trying to make it home Thursday after the fierce storm stranded them at airports or relatives' homes around the region. Some inbound flights were delayed in Philadelphia and New York's LaGuardia, but the wet and windy weather wasn't leading to delays at other major East Coast airports.

On New York's Long Island, a Southwest Airlines jet bound for Tampa, Fla., veered off a taxiway and got stuck in mud Thursday morning. Officials said there were no injuries to the 129 passengers and five crew members, who were expected to take a later flight. Though the area received heavy rain overnight, Southwest spokesman Paul Flanigan said it wasn't clear whether that played a role in the incident.

In Pittsburgh, a flight that landed safely during the storm Wednesday night got stuck in snow for about two hours on the tarmac. The American Airlines flight arrived between 8 and 9 p.m., but then ran over a snow patch and got stuck.

Airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette workers tried for nearly two hours to tow the plane to the gate before deciding to bus passengers to the terminal.

Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed on Wednesday and scores of motorists got stuck on icy roads or slid into drifts. Said John Kwiatkowski, an Indianapolis-based meteorologist with the weather service: "The way I've been describing it is as a low-end blizzard, but that's sort of like saying a small Tyrannosaurus rex."

Kentucky State Police said the storm contributed to two fatal crashes Wednesday. And a New York man was killed after his pickup truck skidded on an icy road in northwest Pennsylvania, also on Wednesday.

The storm system spawned Gulf Coast region tornadoes on Christmas Day, startling people like Bob and Sherry Sims of Mobile, Alabama, who'd just finished dinner.

"We heard that very distinct sound, like a freight train," said Bob Sims. They headed for a center bathroom.

Power was still out at the Sims' home on Wednesday, but the house wasn't damaged and they used a generator to run heaters to stay warm. Some neighbors were less fortunate, their roofs peeled away and porches smashed by falling trees.

In Arkansas, some of the nearly 200,000 people who lost power could be without it for as long as a week because of snapped poles and wires after ice and 10 inches of snow coated power lines, said the state's largest utility, Entergy Arkansas.

Further north, the storm knocked out power to more than 6,000 homes and businesses in central and western Maryland, and utilities were preparing for more outages as the wind picked up. In New Jersey, gusts of more than 70 mph were recorded along the coast, and the weather service issued a flood warning for some coastal areas.

The storm also left freezing temperatures in its aftermath, and forecasters said parts of the Southeast from Virginia to Florida saw severe thunderstorms.

Schools on break and workers taking holiday vacations meant that many people could avoid messy commutes, but those who had to travel were urged to avoid it. Snow was blamed for scores of vehicle accidents in multiple states, including Indiana, where about 40 vehicles got bogged down trying to make it up a slick hill in central Indiana, and four state snowplows slid off roads.

Officials in Ohio blamed the bad weather for a crash that killed an 18-year-old girl, who lost control of her car Wednesday afternoon and smashed into an oncoming snow plow on a highway northeast of Cincinnati.

A man and a woman in Evansville, Ind., were killed when the scooter they were riding went out of control on a snowy street Wednesday and they were hit by a pickup truck.

Two passengers in a car on a sleet-slickened Arkansas highway were killed Wednesday in a head-on collision, and two people, including a 76-year-old Milwaukee woman, were killed Tuesday on Oklahoma highways. Deaths from wind-toppled trees were reported in Texas and Louisiana. Other storm-related deaths include a man checking on a disabled vehicle near Allentown, Pa., who was struck and killed Wednesday night, and two people killed in separate crashes in Virginia.

The day after Christmas wasn't expected to be particularly busy for AAA, but its Cincinnati-area branch had its busiest Wednesday of the year. By mid-afternoon, nearly 400 members had been helped with tows, jump starts and other aid, with calls still coming in, spokesman Mike Mills said.

Few truckers were stopping into a TravelCenters of America truck stop in Willington, Conn., near the Massachusetts border early Thursday. Usually 20 to 30 an hour stop in overnight, but high winds and slushy roads had cut that to two to three people an hour.

"A lot of people are staying off the road," said Louis Zalewa, 31, who works there selling gasoline and staffing the store. "I think people are being smart."

Behind the storm, Mississippi's governor declared states of emergency in eight counties with more than 25 people reported injured and 70 homes left damaged.

Cindy Williams stood near a home in McNeill, Miss., where its front had collapsed into a pile of wood and brick, a balcony and the porch ripped apart. Large oak trees were uprooted and winds sheared off treetops in a nearby grove. But she focused instead on the fact that all her family members had escaped harm.

"We are so thankful," she said. "God took care of us."

(AP) ? Former President George H.W. Bush, who has been hospitalized for more than a month, is getting excellent medical treatment and would advise people to "put the harps back in the closet," his longtime Houston chief of staff said Thursday evening.

But Jean Becker also pointed out in her statement that the 88-year-old Bush is sick and likely will be in the hospital for a while after a "terrible case of bronchitis which then triggered a series of complications."

Bush, the oldest living former president, has been in intensive care since Sunday. He was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Houston on Nov. 23 for treatment of what his spokesman Jim McGrath described as a "stubborn" cough. He had spent about a week there earlier in November for treatment of the same condition.

Becker said "most of the civilized world" contacted her Wednesday after disclosures Bush had been placed in the intensive care unit after physicians were having difficulty bringing a fever under control.

"Someday President George H.W. Bush might realize how beloved he is, but of course one of the reasons why he is so beloved is because he has no idea," Becker said in the at-times lighthearted statement that made multiple references to jokes and the former president's sense of humor.

She said updates about Bush's condition have been limited "out of respect for President Bush and the Bush family who, like most of us, prefer to deal with health issues in privacy." She said another factor was "because he is so beloved we knew everyone would overreact."

"I hope you all know how much your love, concern and support are appreciated," Becker said.

While the president's treatment was "unequaled anywhere," she said prayers also were needed and welcomed.

"I am thinking heaven has not seen such a barrage of prayer intentions since 'It's a Wonderful Life,'" she said, referring to the classic Christmas movie.

It was hoped Bush would be well enough to spend Christmas at home. But while his cough improved, he developed a persistent fever and his condition was downgraded to "guarded."

The former president has had visits from family and friends, including longtime friend James Baker III, his former Secretary of State. Bush's daughter, Dorothy, arrived Wednesday from her home in Bethesda, Md. Other visitors have included his sons George W. Bush, the 43rd president, and Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor.

Bush and his wife, Barbara, live in Houston during the winter and spend their summers at a home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Bush, the 41st president, had served two terms as Ronald Reagan's vice president when he was elected in 1988 to succeed Reagan. Four years later, after a term highlighted by the success of the 1991 Gulf War in Kuwait, he lost to Democrat Bill Clinton amid voters' concerns about the economy.

Bush was a naval aviator in World War II ? at one point the youngest in the Navy ? and was shot down over the Pacific. He's skydived on at least three of his birthdays since leaving the White House, most recently when he turned 85.

He left New England for an oil business job in West Texas in 1948. He's also been a Republican congressman from Texas, U.S. ambassador to China and CIA director.

Bush suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease that forced him in recent years to use a motorized scooter or wheelchair for mobility.

Netflix suffers Christmas Eve outage, points to Amazon

10 hrs.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - An outage at one of Amazon's Web service centers hit users of Netflix Inc.'s streaming video service on Christmas Eve and was not fully resolved until Christmas day, a spokesman for the movie rental company said on Tuesday.?

The outage impacted Netflix subscribers across Canada, Latin America and the United States, and affected various devices that enable users to stream movies and television shows from home, Netflix spokesman Joris Evers said. Such devices range from gaming consoles such as Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 to Blu-ray players.?

Evers said that the issue was the result of an outage at an Amazon Web Services' cloud computing center in Virginia, and started at about 12:30 p.m. PST (2030 GMT) on Monday and was fully restored Tuesday morning, although streaming was available for most users late on Monday.?

"We are investigating exactly what happened and how it could have been prevented," Evers said.?

"We are happy that people opening gifts of Netflix or Netflix-capable devices can watch TV shows and movies and apologize for any inconvenience caused last night," he added.

An outage at Amazon Web Services, or AWS, knocked out such sites as Reddit and Foursquare in April of last year.?

Amazon Web Services was not immediately available for comment. Evers, the Netflix spokesman, declined to comment on the company's contracts with Amazon.

Rom Manager updated, now you can download flashable zip backups to your computer

Rom Manager

If you use Rom Manager to manage your flashing habit and curate all your CWM backups, you're going to want to take a look at the latest update. Beside the theme fixes for older devices, there is a new feature that plenty of folks are going to find useful -- a backup server built right into the app.

It's not just any backup server though. There are plenty of options out there to browse the files on your phone or tablet via Wifi. What Rom Manager is doing provides an extra handy service -- it transforms the backup files into a flashable zip file that you can flash back to your device (or any device) from ClockWorkMod Recovery.

Granted, it's always been possible to pull and share CWM backups, but the new Rom Manager update takes the confusion away and makes it easy for everyone to pull a backup file that's ready to flash, without worrying about the right folder structure or location. As Koush says, this is the first version so there may be a few quirks in it. Be sure to report any of these you may run into back to him. I just tried it, and what I'm seeing works exceptionally well. Give it a go yourself with today's update.

Navy SEAL Commander In Afghanistan Dies Of Apparent Suicide

WASHINGTON ? U.S. military officials are investigating the apparent suicide of a Navy SEAL commander in Afghanistan.

Navy SEAL Cdr. Job W. Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pa., died Saturday of a non-combat-related injury while supporting stability operations in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan.

A U.S. military official said the death "appears to be the result of suicide." The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the death is still being investigated.

"The Naval Special Warfare family is deeply saddened by the loss of our teammate," said Capt. Robert Smith, Commander of Naval Special Warfare Group Two, which manages all Virginia-based Navy SEAL teams. "We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and NSW community during this time of grieving."

"As we mourn the loss and honor the memory of our fallen teammate, those he served with will continue to carry out the mission," Smith added Sunday.

A U.S. military official confirmed Price was from Virginia Beach, Va.-based SEAL Team 4, which is part of the mission to train Afghan local police to stave off the Taliban in remote parts of Afghanistan. Price is survived by a wife and a daughter.

Tips on Wine and Food Pairing | Tasting Argentina: The Anuva Wine ...

Ever since I was a little child I saw my dad drinking wine with love and dedication, now that we are both grown ups we happen to share the same passion for good food and wine. Since these two elements are big part of my business here in Buenos Aires , I put lots of attention to what wine and food I?ll be serving on my table.

Pairing wine and food ?is usually a task that many find overwhelming because they might think that it is a very strict and rigid. The basics of wine and food pairing are quite ?simple though! ?You just have to follow some basic, reasonable, rules. So here are some great tips to make your dinner something truly spectacular.

Go for what you like:

Very easy basic rule, cook and drink what you like the most. It doesn?t really matter how many experts have flattered a wine or food, if you don?t like it, forget it! Make a wise decision and trust your instinct by cooking and drinking only your favorite stuff!!

Keep the balance:

It is very important to keep a balance in your meal when it comes to wine. Try make the body, of the elements you are using, match. Have a light wine with a light meal, a rich, flavored and complex wine with food that has the same characteristics.
This is so we can keep a balance in our palate and prevent the wine overpowering food or vice versa.

Match categories:

When you?re eating a dish with a strong acidic content using ingredients such as lemons or tomatoes pair it with an acidic wine that can keep up with the acids in the food.

If what you are having is more of a ?fat? heavy meal instead, such as steak or pork, use a red wine with nice tannins, so it can help you to clean the palate. Tannins have a very particular astringency which will help strip the fats from your tongue. The tannins cleanse the palate of the rich fats from a meal and provide a refined, refreshing drink.

Find the descriptor that you want to enhance:

To keep a good balance between wine and food, find a good descriptor (easier to find on the wine) and try to work with that, by adding ingredients in your meal that will maximize that specific flavor you like.

Finding balance in different ways:

The balance between food and wine is not necessarily matching flavors in an exact way, you can add some of this balance by bringing characteristics missing on the dish (or wine) that go well together.
If you want to eat a ?fat? heavier dish, but want to go with white wine then try to use the elements you have and play with them, for example if you want fried chicken then try to contrast the taste with crisp refreshing wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Griggio instead. If you are using ?Creme fraiche? then try to go with a rich Chardonnay.

Don?t be scared to try new ideas:

I think this might be the most important part ?of a good wine food pairing guide. which is, don?t be afraid of trying new things, even if you fail and dinner end up tasting like a Picasso, never mind, you learned what tastes might not go along or could instead end up discovering a new match made in heaven combination.

All of this you can learn on your own, by reading, experimenting or going to wine tastings where you can pick up some more of this valuable tips, to cook and drink like a king!

GLHFCasting ? Car Insurance Basics

Each year, more automobiles and drivers travel the highways. With countless vehicles on the road, accidents will happen. The difference between a small aggravation and major pain can be car insurance. But why do you need insurance and just how much should you buy? Car insurance protects you by covering the cost of damage caused to your vehicle or another person?s vehicle and injury to others, yourself, or your passengers, and certain other occurrences, such as theft. Every state and province requires auto insurance by law. Without insurance, you risk having to pay the full cost of any harm you cause others or of repairing or replacing your car if it is damaged or stolen. It pays for damages due to bodily injury and property damage to others for which you are responsible. Bodily injury damages include medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property and loss of use of property. It also covers your defense and court costs if you are sued. Higher recommended insurances are available that cover more than the lower, state-mandated insurance. Personal injury protection: This is required in some states and is optional in others. Sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage, this pays the medical treatment for you or your passengers regardless of who was at fault. It may also pay for lost earnings, replacement of services and funeral expenses. The minimum amount of this insurance is usually set by the state. Medical payments: This type of coverage is available in non-no-fault states and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. It pays for an insured person?s reasonable and necessary medical and funeral expenses for bodily injury from an accident. Collision: Pays for damage to your car caused by a collision. Comprehensive: Applies if your car is stolen or damaged by causes other than collision, including fire, wind, hail, flood or vandalism. Uninsured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have liability insurance or by a person who cannot be identified (usually a hit-and-run driver). Under-insured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have enough liability insurance to cover the full amount of the damages. Other coverages, like car rental and emergency road service, are also available. What you pay for auto insurance varies by company and will depend on several factors, including: * What coverage you select * The make and model of the car you drive * Your driving record * Your age, gender and marital status and * Where you live Some have come to think of auto insurance as a necessary evil, but it can truly rescue your economic health Evaluate your needs, do your research and with the help of your insurance agent choose the option that best suits you. Margie Bruner will lead Roadrunners cross country program ? Sports ?

Dalton State College has filled its last coaching vacancy for the time being, but the school?s athletic department still has another related position to fill.

School officials have announced Margie Bru-ner, who is a Dalton High cross country and track and field assistant coach, will be the Roadrunners? new men?s and women?s cross country coach when the program begins competition next fall.

It is currently a part-time volunteer position, and there are plans to hire a director of cross country in the near future.

The director, who also will be an assistant coach for the men?s basketball team, will be a full-time position handling budgeting and scheduling.

Bruner, who ran for Auburn?s cross country and track and field teams, expects to handle more of the day-to-day operations with the program like practices and recruiting.

Dalton State athletic director Derek Waugh said Bruner will report to him and the director.

?I ran in college and in high school and I really enjoy it,? Bruner said. ?The kids are just great. It?s a lot of fun.

?It?s going to be a challenging position, but it?s a nice transition and something exciting to do.?

The coaching position is volunteer but might become a paid part-time position in the future. That is undecided, Waugh said.

?We?ve got to get moving on these sports and we need people in place for recruiting so we don?t miss out on athletes,? he said. ?At the NAIA level, lots of positions are kind of doubled up. The director will do the scheduling and help with those things.?

Waugh added the director position will be filled ?very soon? and will have the majority of his or her responsibilities with men?s basketball, which is headed up by coach Tony Ingle.

?It?s right at the top of the to-do list,? Waugh said. ?The advertisement has been out on it for a while.?

The Roadrunners are bringing athletics back after an extended absence ? when its sports program existed before, the school was still known as Dalton Junior College ? and Bruner first heard of a potential cross country team even before Waugh was hired in February.

?It might have been a year and a half ago when I heard they might have cross country,? she said. ?I thought about applying and then Derek called me.?

Bruner previously taught ?first-year experience? and psychology classes at Dalton State.

She currently works as Dalton High?s school psychologist and in 2011 was nominated for the Tom Jones Educator of the Year award for Dalton Public Schools.

She will continue to work at Dalton High and will help with track and field at the school again this spring before stepping away from her coaching positions with the Cata-mounts and Lady Cats.

?If you talk to people that know running in the area, she has a lot of positive references,? Waugh said. ?People think she?s very good and has great character. She knows the business and the area, not just Dalton High but the other schools.?

Initial plans for the cross country teams included Waugh being the coach, but that changed when he felt it would serve no benefit to the runners.

?There?s just so much stuff going on, and I didn?t want to short-change any of the sports,? he said. ?If I had been the coach, it would?ve been short-changed.?

Bruner and her husband, Greg Bruner, are avid participants in the area?s running scene and honorary board members of ?The Run for John,? an annual race held in memory of their son who was The Daily Citizen?s All-Area Boys Cross Country Co-Runner of the Year in 2005.

Another son, Andrew Bruner, was selected the area?s top boys cross country runner by the paper in 2009.

Media circus performs at French 'doomsday' village of Bugarach

Patrick Aventurier / Getty Images

Camera crews from all over the world continue to work Friday beyond 11:11 a.m., the time the Mayan apocalypse was supposed to occur in Bugarach village, France.

By Emma O'Shaughnessy, NBC News

BUGARACH, France ? The peacefulness of the Sals River Valley at the foothills of the Pyrenees in France belies its violent, enigmatic history. Once the place of ancient marauding Visigoths, its small villages were also home to the mystical Cathars and to the protectors of the cloth, the Knights Templar ? both eliminated by inquisitions and despotic rulers.

Roughly two years ago, the peace of this land was broken once again by strange rumors surfacing online about Bugarach Mountain, a rocky beacon presiding over the landscape.

According to some reports, the peak of the mountain conceals an alien spaceship. Other sources say it is part of an alien space-time portal. The origins of the UFO stories have been difficult to trace, but have generated a response bordering on hysteria. Under normal circumstances, probably, such bizarre claims would have slunk away unnoticed or been relegated to the crazy bin. But, as they say, timing is everything.

For years, doomsayers warned that the end of a 5,125-year cycle in the Maya timekeeping system, which culminated on Dec. 21, would also signify the end of the world. In recent months, the UFO story has taken over the public imagination. Instead of being passed off as nonsense, Bugarach and its "resident UFO" became star European players in a global doomsday pantomime. And when it was announced that the regional authorities were calling in police and paramilitaries to prevent cultists from ascending the peak on doomsday, the village became the center of a media storm ? a different kind of pantomime altogether.

Driving into the village on the morning of Dec. 19, a number of elements met the eyes: telltale blue uniforms and police vans peppering the sides of the roads, smoke rising languidly from stone chimneys, the looming figure of Bugarach Mountain. Other sights included columns of SUVs and satellite trucks snaking their way along the country roads. Roving packs of groomed-yet-rugged types with press passes and hungry looks were busy claiming positions within cordoned-off areas in the village.

No sight of cultists, or for that matter, anything more otherworldly than a mass of waterproof jackets and the hardened boots of teams waiting for their scoop. Soggy fields bordered with caution tape were reserved for vehicles, and over the course of the day the fields became emblazoned with acronyms and company crests, resembling an army of knights from different royal houses, awaiting battle.

In advance of the Dec. 21 supposed Mayan apocalypse, rumor-mongers spread the word that a peak near Bugarach, a picturesque village in the French Pyrenees, would be the only place on Earth to escape destruction. When authorities announced they were calling in police and paramilitaries to prevent cultists from ascending the peak on doomsday, the village became the center of a media storm.

Optimism reigned for the two days leading up to the eschatological event. Reporters heartily greeted each other and rival camera crews were sportingly scoped out. At dinner, the catch phrase, "Where are you from?" echoed around as different teams sat side by side at long tables, rubbing elbows and even sharing a bit of rustic bread. A cacophony of tongues filled the room. Outside, the village remained strangely empty.

Dawn breaks on Dec. 21 in Bugarach. Where are all the hippies? A Dutch producer mutters: "Maybe they?ve already crossed through the star gate." Most likely, they?ve been chased away.

"Anyway, who the heck would want to ride to another planet with this bunch?" NBC News overhears a French cameraman saying to his sound technician as he looks around the square.

An unidentified woman speaks to journalists in the village of Bugarach in southern France on Dec. 21.

The few locals venturing out in the open are either bemused and vague, or are capitalizing on all the attention to make some cash ? steaming croissants and chai tea are sold at a makeshift stall. The clientele? Dutch, French and Japanese TV crews. A young video artist from Switzerland takes a photo of a photographer taking a photo of reporters.

"This is very postmodern," he laughs. "This is the new story."

From time to time, rogue civilians break the fatigue that's setting in. A man arrives carrying a placard with the words, "The black stone of Bugarach." In an instant, he is mobbed by TV crews. Later, an angry resident shouts at the throng. Lenses swing and snap wildly.

Author Henry Lincoln accuses the media of creating and hyping the story.

"You?re doing it," he told NBC News. "If you would leave us in peace, nobody would be yelling about the end of the world and flying saucers coming to Bugarach."

Fair enough, this once sleepy town has been invaded. Neither by UFOs nor by extremists of any sort, but rather by dogged pursuers of what has proven to be an elusive story.

At what point does a reporter abandon a story? "Let?s get out of here. This is embarrassing," a correspondent states flatly.

Almost reluctantly, engines begin to start.
