The Android Jelly Bean update will be available for Nexus S later this month.
IBTimes UK?advises owners of Nexus S devices to check model numbers before proceeding with this installation, since the ROM is compatible only with the global GSM version of the device. In addition, we urge you to make a back-up of all data and app-related information, as well as APN settings, before proceeding.
Step to Install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- Install ClockworkMod recovery using Nexus S toolkit
- Download main ROM (file name - update-crespo-JRN83C-preview-2012063001.zip) and latest Service Pack file of the ROM. Copy zip files to SD card on phone ??
- Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery (turn phone off and press and hold Volume Down and the Power buttons to boot into fastboot mode. Highlight Recovery option and select using Power button) ?
- Select Wipe Data / Factory Reset, confirm deletion and wait for process to complete
- Select install zip from SD card, select file - update-crespo-JRN83C-preview-2012063001.zip - and install ROM
- Once main ROM installation is over, install Service Pack
- After installation of Service Pack, select Reboot System and device should boot into Jelly Bean
- In order to update further versions of the ROM, go to the development page, download latest Service Pack file and install from Recovery
Congratulations... the SDK based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM is running on your Nexus S.
