A Portland police officer is undergoing surgery at a Portland hospital after he was seriously injured this morning when a tree fell on him during an ATV training exercise on Hayden Island.
Portland police declined to identify the officer because several members of his family have not been notified.
The officer is a 19-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, police said.
"Due to medical privacy, no additional medical information can be released,'' Sgt. Pete Simpson said, in a prepared release.
